Free ATO SuperStream information session in Bunbury
The date for employers to be SuperStream ready is fast approaching. To help employers get ready for the changes to how superannuation is paid, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is hosting a free breakfast information session in Bunbury on Monday 20 April.
The SuperStream changes will simplify how employers make superannuation contributions on behalf of employees, saving time and costs. SuperStream will ensure that contribution payments, and information about those payments, are sent electronically to super funds. All employers will need to adopt SuperStream. WA Super’s Business Development Manager, Murray Aldridge, will join a panel of speakers from the ATO at the event. Murray will speak to tax professionals about WA Super’s experience in helping employers become SuperStream ready and how WA Super can help.
June 30 marks the compliance date for medium to large employers (those with 20 or more employees). These employers should already be prepared with an implementation plan in place.
SuperStream for small employers with 19 or less employees starts on 1 July this year, and while they have 12 months to get ready, the ATO is urging all businesses to prepare now so they can take advantage of the benefits sooner.
The breakfast meeting is on from 7.30-9am at Chamber House. To register and for further information, visit the ATO’s website.
The ATO also has a helpful step-by-step checklist to help employers prepare, at www.ato.gov.au/SuperStreamChecklist.
